Chihiro Yonekura “Voyager 15th Anniversary Special Live”

The first time I heard Chihi’s song was from Senkaiden Houshin Engi (I didn’t finish the series though). Her voice and easy-listening type of songs really got me into her and I downloaded several of her albums that time. They went poof when my HDD crashed not long after that. -.-

I’ve thought of watching her live when I’m here but I always missed/forgot it for some reasons. I recently added her on my twitter, and noticed that she was going to an anniversary live, so I quickly bought the ticket at kombini (I should’ve save money -.-)

The place was Shibuya O-EAST. I got lost a few times (even though I’ve been her for FJ live #2 2 yrs ago). It was among the love hotels at dogenzaka. :p

When I was there everyone was already inside. None of the goods interest me, but I noticed that they gave her signs if you buy any of her cds (except seize the day single). So after some hesitating I bought voyager (with the last money in my wallet).

The hall was small, so I got good view of the stage although I stood at the back.

The 1st song was Little Soldier (started with accapella) and her voice is indeed nice and clear. Followed by Yakusoku no basho and the 1st Mc. Butterfly kiss is one of my fave, and listening it live make me very happy. Before Eternity, she had another MC saying while she was writing this song, her father passed away, and this song contained her feeling/emotion to her father.

There was another MC after Eternity finished, she said when making setlist for this live, she felt like she had too much ballads, and if she sang everything, this will feel like ballad-theme live, so she decided to just do medley of them. She asked “can you guess which song will be sung?” – someone shouted “hidamari o tsurete!”, and she said “uh, good one!” Medley ballads followed by FRIENDS and then she went to backstage while vTR showed covers from her singles and albums.

After 5 mins or so, I heard familiar tunes, then Mak-kun came out! r.o.r/s! =D Too bad they only sang Candy lie (with dance moves!) I expected at least Tattoo Kiss was sung too, as she advertised it as “special one-time only return of r.o.r/s for this live” on her site, but, oh well. Makkun said it’s been 8 yrs since it (she said she joined JAM at the same time with ror/s), and the last time it was performed is 3 yrs ago at Anisama. One of the interesting talk was, before the founding of ror/s, Makkun and Chihi never talked to each other, even though they were at the same label.

The next duet is with Kage-nii, with song from her Departure album (written by Kageyama himself). They talked about the story of Chihi joining Solidvox (Kageyama is the president of Solidvox) and the last time they performed the song was at a Countdown event.

Chiaki came out with a bottle of blue champagne, congratulating Chihi for her 15th career and saying “this wine fits Chihi because it’s cute” They do talk a lot of random topics (Chihi’s clumsiness – she always forgot things and even broke her perfume at dressing room, how when they first met, etc). They said they can repeat the same duet at Anisama, but instead chose to do a new one – Prototype (YES!!! I kinda prefer this to Anna ni) and a new Gundam song which was sung at Gundam live at HK.

The last guests were TOPGUN for the new song of Gundam SD. They all have sung theme for Gundam.

The last half main part of the live were filled with “high-speed songs”, starting from Miracle Voyager (another new song on her album, written and produced by ELEMENTS GARDEN) and ended by Arashi no naka de kagayaku. She said, she will keep shining in the storm and such. :p

I was happy she also performed her new single Seize the days (theme for Emil Chronicle online game) at encore. After 10 YEARS AFTER, the guests came out and each gave her a flower bouquet, plus Misato Aki and Kita Shuuhei. Her hands were full of bouquets that her face was hidden. XDD The staff then came to carry some. Everyone congrats her again, and Kageyama just said “the only bad thing about her is, she really eats a looooooooottttttt when we are eating at buffet-style restaurant”. XD To my surprise, there was a double encore with Itsu no hi ka.

She announced that she will hold another Xmas live this year. If I’m still here I’d like to attend it.
